Abstract

1,203,920. Vehicle suspension. AMERICAN HOIST & DERRICK CO. 21 July, 1969 [15 Oct., .1968], No. 36596/69. Heading B7D. [Also in Divisions B8 and E2] A counterweight trailer assembly 38 combined with a crane (see Division B8), comprises a ballast tank 39 supported by two sets of two pairs of wheels 72, 73 and 72A, 73A similarly mounted. Pair 72 is mounted on an axle 76 pivoted on horizontal king pins 81 to yoke 79 on standard 77 arranged to rotate about its vertical axis. A lock assembly 86 (see Division E2-E3) sets the wheels 72 concentric with the crane-slueing axis. The wheel pairs 72, 73 and 72A, 73A are respectively mounted on beams 74, 74A, the former being pivoted about a horizontal axis by a pin 107 to equalize the load on all eight wheels. For towing independently of the crane the wheels 72A, 73A are set parallel to the longitudinal axis of the trailer assembly 38 and the wheels 72, 73 are set parallel and interconnected for steering, Fig. 10 (not shown).
