Abstract

1,203,773. Grinding mills; mixing apparatus. EDWARDS & JONES Ltd. 10 Oct., 1968 [13 Oct., 1967], No. 46759/67. Headings B2A and B1C. A mill comprises a vertical cylindrical vessel 10 having a central tube 14 whose lower end wall has orifices 15 and surrounds an impeller 16. The vessel has a cooling jacket 11 and is charged with grinding media 25. When the impeller is driven by a motor 18, a suspension supplied at 26 is drawn upwards through the media and a retaining screen 10a and downwards through the tube 14 and outwards through the orifices 15. When the suspension is sufficiently processed it is drawn off via the opening 26.
