Abstract
1,203,167. Brush development apparatus. RANK XEROX Ltd. Dec. 19, 1968 [Dec.21, 1967], No.60358/68. Heading G2H. In a brush development apparatus, toner particles are propelled from a container towards the brush and charged tribo-electrically before being received on the brush. Toner particles stored in a sump part of a container 10 are gathered by flexible rotating fingers 88 having curved end-portions 84 which flex against a fixed member 89 and on release propel the particles through a screen 80 (of a material removed in the tribo-electric series from the toner, whereupon the particles are charged) to a rotating brush 66 which transfers them to the drum 35. In an alternative embodiment the toner is triboelectrlcally charged in the container by rotating elements.
