Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform invariably stable charging through preventing the contamination of a friction member by attaching and detaching a friction discharger to and from a photosensitive drum as desired. CONSTITUTION:A friction charger is provided so that a friction charger 2 charing a photosensitive drum 1 is moved in the direction shown by an arrow (c), causing a friction member at least to be detached from the surface of the drum 1. In this constitution, residual toner on the drum 1 after transfer is removed by a two-component magnetic brush development device 6, but when the residual toner turns until the position of the charger 2, the charger 2 is moved away from the drum 1. Consequently, the contamination of the friction member is prevented, so the contamination of the drum 1 is also prevented to eliminate ground fogging, thereby performing invariably stable charging.
