1,203,080. Sheep &c. shearing apparatus. M. B. L. JENKINSON. 11 Sept., 1967 [21 Sept., 1966], No. 41333/67. Heading B4B. A sheep-shearing handpiece is combined with a reciprocating pneumatic motor which has two cylinders in V or other known formations and pistons, 36, 34, made each with an extended skirt the diameter of which is less than that of the cylinder bore and which pass through the inner cylinder head so that each cylinder is rendered double acting. The motor has piston valves 40, Fig. 5, to control the admission and exhaust of air to and from the working cylinders, the valves 40 each having at its crank-shaft end, a fork which can engage and be reciprocated by an eccentric 10 or 14, Fig. 1; formed integrally with the crank-shaft. The crankshaft is made in two sections and has a demountable crank-cheek or web 15 capable of being assembled with the crank pin 23, aligned and locked into place by means of a transverse cotter 11 and a cap screw (48), Fig. 6 (not shown). Oil mist laden exhaust air is circulated through the motor crankcase and headpiece barrel. The motor and handpiece barrel are magnesium alloy castings. The main throttle valve 30 is controlled by a thumb or finger lever and mounted upon the handpiece barrel.
