Abstract

1,202,862. Apparatus for lost wax moulding. REDMAN HEENAN INTERNATIONAL Ltd. 4 Sept., 1967 [3 June, 1966], No. 24894/66. Heading B5A. Apparatus for producing ceramic shell moulds by the lost wax process comprises a first tank 16 to contain a ceramic slurry, a second tank 17 containing a fluidized ceramic powder, a third tank 18 for applying ammonia gas to the coated former and means for suspending the former above and for lowering the former into each tank in turn. As shown, the apparatus comprises five coating stations (a)-(e) each equipped with a turret mechanism 10 rotatable about a vertical axis, arms 11-14, equipped with means to hold the pattern, tanks 16, 17, 18 and unloading stations D. Means (e.g. pneumatic or hydraulic) at each position lower and raise the former into and from the tanks. In operation a former is loaded on to arm 11 of turret (a) and is dipped into the slurry in tank 16. The arm 11 is raised, the turret rotated through 90 degrees and the former dipped into tank 17. The process is repeated in tank 18 where the coated pattern is treated with ammonia and the pattern is passed to position D where it is transferred to arm 11 of turret (b). A further coating of slurry is applied to the former at each station.
