Abstract
1308911 Coating apparatus A DUNLOP 19 May 1970 [20 Feb 1969] 9155/69 Heading B2L [Also in Division B5] Apparatus for forming shell moulds comprises vertically reciprocable pattern-supporting means which is rotatable about a vertical axis and having pattern-supporting shafts spaced around its circumference, the shafts each being rotatable about a horizontal axis when the pattern-supporting means is stationary and in its lowermost position so that the patterns may be dipped into a tank of mould-forming material when the supporting means is lowered, the supporting means being indexed to align the patterns successively with a number of such tanks. As shown in Fig. 1, patterns 22 are mounted on drums 23 on shafts 16 rotatable in brackets 15 of arms 13 by bevel gears 17, 18 from motor 19. Arms 13 are spaced about frame 12 mounted for vertical movement on piston rod 11 of cylinder 10. Indexing of assembly 12-13 is effected when raised by cylinder 20 through ratchet and pawl device 21. Six successive tanks 14 may contain an alkaline soluble silicate slurry, dry refractory, liquid gelling agent, neutralising agent, an acid soluble silicate slurry, and dry refractory.
