Abstract

1,202,708. Building panels, prefabricated room units. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. 14 Sept., 1967 [3 Oct., 1966], No. 42047/67. Headings E1A and E1B. A prefabricated storey high panel comprises a foamed polystyrene layer 15 sandwiched between a concrete or light-weight concrete layer 13 and a concrete layer 14, the layers 14 and 15 extending beyond the layer 13 and metal section bars 14A, 15A secured to the layer 13 are positioned in the rebate so formed along the vertical sides of the panel. The two concrete layers have reinforcement which is interconnected by ties. The panels may have doors or windows. The inner face of the lightweight concrete layer 13 has a finish coat 20 applied thereto and the outer face of layers 14 is tiled. The panels 7 and 14 (Fig. 3) are used for making pre-fabricated room units, comprising framed floor and ceiling panels and dividing walls 8, 9, 10, the panels being welded to the frame members 38A and the reinforcement 29 thereof being bolted in slots 30 in ceiling panel 12. The upper edge of the panel may have an integral gutter section and a dam pipe may be mounted therein at a joint with an adjacent limb. The gap between adjacent units are closed by a pair of elastomeric strips.
