I
Prior art constructions of partition walls had the disadvantage of not allowing for variations in the dimensions of the main walls and hence requiring adjustment on the site, which resulted in waste of both time and materials, and required skilled labor. Also, the adjustment required prevented re-use, so that such partition walls could not be termed demountable.
The special section used for the top and bottom abutments and for the frames consists of a U-section, the edges of which are bent inwards and the base of which bears on the floor or ceiling, in the case of the bottom and top abutments respectively. A T extends from the center of each of the arms of the U and the web of the T is perpendicular to the arm of the U, while the crossbar of the T is of a length equal to half the height of the arms of the U, and the two edges of the said crossbar are bent inwards.
The special three-channel section for the partition wall comprises a channel having a horizontal entry for the introduction of the connecting member whereby two sections are twinned, said connecting member bring secured by resilient fasteners of a known type; a larger channel having a vertical entry to receive the facing panel, said channel being divided by a vertical partition to form a narrow channel to receive the retaining section for the facing panel concealing the jacks and ensuring continuity as far as the abutment. The three-channel section is used in a twinned arrangement, and an insulating filling can be introduced as indicated hereinbefore by a connecting member which determines the thickness of the partition.
The details of the invention will be apparent from the description with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is a perspective of the assembly formed by a bottom abutment, a partition wall, and a top abutment, before the fitting of the facing panels which conceal the jacks and provide architectural continuity.
FIG. 2 is a similar perspective view to FIG. 1 but with the spaces between the partition wall and the two abutments being filled in.
FIG. 3 shows the incorporation of glazing at the center of the partition wall, the glazing being secured by glazing beads of a known type.
FIG. 4 is a horizontal section of the corner connection of two partition walls at right angles to one another.
FIG. 5 is a horizontal section of the frame with a hinge clipped on and sealing members of known type.
Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the top and bottom abutment members consist of the U-section l and the T-sections 2, while the section for the partitioning wall consists of a channel 3 having a horizontal entry for the introduction of the connecting member 14 visible in FIG.
3, by means of which the two sections are twinned; the channel 4 to receive the facing panel 7 and resilient fastening means; the channel 5 to receive retaining sections 6 for the facing panel 8, which conceals the jacks 9; l0, and the insulating filling between the two facing panels 7.
Referring to FIG. 3, the twinned partitioning wall has glazing 11 in the middle, said glazing being fixed by four rubber glazing beads 12 fixed in the channel 4 of the section; the glazing 11 rests on a wooden member 13 which itself bears on the member 14 by means of which the two sections are twinned.
Referring to FIG. 4, the retaining sections 6 are fitted in the channels 5 of the sections to receive the inner facing panels 15 and the outer facing panels 16; the latter are retained at the outer corner by an X-section 17 which allows the facings l6to be fitted and fixed from the outside of the structure; reference 18 denotes a corner insulating block.
Referring to FIG. 5, the two frame members are formed by the same section as is used for the abutments, the hinge 19 being clipped on to one of the T- sections, the symmetrical channel of the other frame member acting as a bolt for the striking plate 20 of the door 21; reference 22 denotes plastic gaskets of known type. The symmetry of the section enables a double door to be fitted if required.
