Abstract

1,201,935. Coating apparatus. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. 19 Sept., 1967 [30 Sept., 1966], No. 42688/67. Headings B2E and B2L. [Also in Divisions C6 and C7] The surface of the edge portions of a metal sheet 1 are continuously treated by moving the sheet longitudinally whilst having its edge portions immersed in a surface treating liquid 3 flowing down confronting faces of vertically positioned wall structures 2. As shown the fluid 3 flows from upper containers 4, down the surface of the wall structures 2 to collect in containers 5. The treatment may comprise cleaning, etching, polishing, coating, colouring, plating or anodizing, and the metal sheet to be treated may be iron, copper, aluminium, tin nickel or an alloy thereof. For electrolytic treatment, the walls 2 should form the counterelectrodes, and may be of graphite, e.g. with a layer of porous non-conductive material attached thereto to prevent short-circuit therebetween. .
