A spun weft yarn for use in the manufacture of lining fabrics intended particularly for outer garments has a thickness of 170 tex or less with at least a third by weight of the starting material of the yarn comprising artificial staple fibres having a thickness of 44 dtex or more, with the remainder if any of the yarn comprising natural or synthetic fibres. These latter fibres may have an average thickness of 24 dtex or more the yarn may be spun with other threads or core-spun with other fibres.
