1,200,799. Disc brakes. GIRLING Ltd. 14 Nov., 1968 [16 Nov., 1967], No. 52122/67. Heading F2E. A set-screw 41 is arranged in one of a pair of arms having grooves 20a to limit the play in the grooves of a yoke 11 supporting an indirectly operated brake pad 12. A spring 21 urges the yoke 11 against side walls of the grooves to prevent spragging. Operation is by a pair of pistons 14 and 15, the latter engaging a tongue 22 of the yoke 11. The set-screw 41 is adjusted to reduce the clearance a to a value of 0À006 to 0À008 inch for noiseless operation, and is then locked in place, e.g. by peening.
