A liquid cleaning composition for drains comprises at least 95% by wt. of a chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent exemplified by carbon tetrachloride, 1,2 - dichloroethane, 1,1,1 - trichloroethane, trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, orthodichlorobenzene, 1,2-dichloropropane, 1,1,2 - trichloroethane, 1,1,2,2 - tetrachloroethane, pentachloroethane and hexachloroethane and from 0À001 to 5À0% by wt. of a surfactant having an average ethylene oxide content of from 60 to 90% by wt.
