Abstract

1301012 Stabilization of chloroethylenes WACKER-CHEMIE GmbH 11 Feb 1970 [11 Feb 1969] 6569/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] Trichlorethylene or perchlorethylene (tetrachlorethylene) is stabilized by the addition of 1,3,5-cycloheptatriene in quantities of 0À01 to 0À5% by weight. The stabilizing effect is enhanced by the further addition of 0À025 to 0À1% by weight of a tertiary aliphatic amine in which at least one of the three aliphatic residues is unsaturated, e.g. 1-dimethylaminopropyne-2, allyldiisopropylamine, triallylamine and propargyldiisopropylamine. The ratio of 1,3,6- cycloheptatriene to tertiary aliphatic amine may be from 1 : 1 to 8 : 1. The solvents are especially useful in the degreasing of metals and also in dry cleaning.
