Abstract

1,198,922. Preventing unauthorized removal of nuts. H. G. HOLT. 6 March, 1969 [17 April, 1968], No. 18012/68. Heading F2H. [Also in Division E2] To prevent the unauthorized removal of a nut 1 from a bolt 3, the nut is provided with a recess 7 for housing the barrel 8 of a cylinder lock, the barrel 8 having retractable projections for engaging indents 9 in the recess 7 and being connected to a shroud 6 surrounding the nut 1 by a radially extending member 11. The member 11 may comprise an annular flange on the lock which flange abuts or is integral with or connected to the shroud 6. Alternatively, the member 11 may comprise a plurality of radially extending projections extending over the shroud 6 from the barrel 8 or an inturned part of the shroud 6 engaging the lock. The shroud 6 may be tubular and arranged to cover a plurality of coaxial nuts or an array of nuts. By retracting the projections with a key, the cylinder lock and shroud 6 can be removed to gain access to the nut 1.
