Abstract

1,223,069. Locking fasteners. SHUR-LOK CORP. 21 Oct., 1969 [9 Dec., 1968], No. 51601/69. Heading F2H. A lock fastener comprising a bolt A, and a nut B having two diametrically opposite openings 17 diverging from one end face towards the sides of the nut is provided with a lock-washer C having a cylindrical collar 20 provided with internal spines (21) (Fig. 5, not shown) for engagement with grooves 12 on the bolt and with axially extending tines 23 for co-operation with the openings 17 in the nut. The openings 17 may be circular holes or slots of T-shaped crosssection and are arranged so that after the nut B is engaged with the bolt A to secure two plates D together the lock-washer C is located over the free end of the bolt A with the splines engaging the grooves and is urged axially of the bolt so that the tines 23 enter the openings 17 and are deformed thereby, locking thus being effected by the lock-washer.
