Abstract

1,198,598. Boots &c. SEMPERIT OSTERREICHISCH - AMERIKANISCHE GUMMIWERGE A.G. 11 March, 1969 [12 March, 1968; 2 April, 1968], No. 12821/69. Heading A3B. Protective footwear comprises sandals (preferably of light construction) having air holes, the portions of the sandals which are endangered in use being reinforced. The reinforcements may consist of ribs 6, 7, 8 formed integral with the sandal in the toe, ankle and heel regions or of inserts or linings of metal, e.g. steel; hard plastics material, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, or of phenol-formal-dehyde resin stiffened fabric. The sandal may also include a sole reinforcing plate 9 of steel. The sandal may be made of antistatic and/or oil and petrol resistant material.
