Abstract

1,198,400. Finishing yarns. SOC. RHODIACETA. 29 Nov., 1968 [30 Nov., 1967], No. 56827/68. Heading D1F. Apparatus for interlacing continuous filaments to form a coherent yarn by the action of a fluid stream e.g. a jet of compressed air, comprises a yarn passage having cylindrical and isosceles, trapezoidal cross-section, prismatic portions, optionally interconnected by a portion of rectangular cross-section, and at least one fluid nozzle positioned to project at least one jet into the prismatic portion along the plane of symmetry thereof and generally transversely to the axis of the cylindrical portion. In the apparatus shown, untwisted or slightly twisted and slightly tensioned nylon yarn introduced by way of a slot 15 is directed by guides 21 to pass through passage 20 formed by portions 22, 23, 24. Air introduced into inlet 12 is projected as primary jets, by nozzles formed by ducts 14, into portion 23, thence 24. Some air is collected by ducts 17 and combined in chamber 18 before being projected, by a nozzle formed by duct 19, as a secondary jet into portion 24.
