Abstract

1,197,869. Brushes and brush-holders for dynamo-electric machines. BENDIX CORP. 12 March, 1969 [8 April, 1968], No. 12930/69. Headings H2A and H2E. Brush gear for a slip-ring 10 comprises at least one arcuate brush 16 loosely retained against a holding plate 28, Fig. 2, and urged towards the slip-ring by spring means such as a garter spring 18, the plate 28 having stops 20, 22 adjacent the ends of the brush which permit limited movement thereof with the slip-ring. A casing 26 surrounds the brushes and encloses terminals 25 on the plate 28. Fig. 4 shows a modification wherein a pair of parallel slip-rings 10, 10a are engaged by brushes 116, 116a retained against holding plates 128, 128a and biased by spring fingers 118, 118a punched out from the holding plates. A diode 11 interconnects the slip-rings to reduce sparking.
