Abstract

1,013,508. Brush holders for electric motors. T. MABUCHI. Dec. 16, 1963 [Dec. 28, 1962; Feb. 1, 1963], No. 49633/63. Heading H2A. A miniature electric motor has brush-gear comprising an insulated base-plate 1 upon which is mounted a projecting rod 14 round which is wound a bent spring 6 of which one end is held and the other urges against a commutator, one end of a carbon brush 5 sliding between two guides 11, 11<SP>1</SP> projecting from the base-plate 1 and a conductive support plate 2 fixed to the latter and pressing against a side of the brush, the spring said other end passing, as the brush wears down, through gaps G 1 , G 2 between the guides 11, 11<SP>1</SP> and support plate 2 until reaching bosses 13, 13<SP>1</SP> formed at the commutator ends of the guides whereby the brush is allowed to wear right down but the spring is prevented from engaging the commutator. As, shown, two diametrically opposite brushes are carried by the base-plate 1 which is spigoted into the motor casing 4 and held therein by casing claws in base-plate grooves. The lead portion 17 of the support plate 2 holds the spring first end.
