Abstract
1,222,754. Commutators for dynamo-electric machines. ZENTRALLABORATORIUM ELEKTROGERATE DER VEREINIGUNG VOLKSEIGENER BETRIEBE ELEKTROGERATE. 11 April, 1969, No. 18754/69. Heading H2A. In connecting armature winding ends 16 to commutator segments, a plurality of resilient, electrically conductive riders or contact springs 9 mounted on an insulating disc 1, e.g. of moulded thermoplastics material, located between the armature 12 and commutator 13, are connected to the winding end, e.g. by soldering or welding, and press against the ends of the segments. Pins 11 and a locking ring 17 respectively prevent relative rotational and axial movement of the disc and commutator. The contacts 9 are held in position by engaging slots 5 and grooves 10 in the disc. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), part of the contacts (2) extend through axial slots in the periphery of the disc 1 and down the face of the disc remote from the commutator, being secured against that face by a second insulating disc (6). Pins (3) adapted to fit in the inter-segment slots fulfil the same function as the pins 11 in Fig. 3. The flat disc may be replaced by a disc having an axially extending sleeve 8, Fig. 4 (not shown), on which the commutator is mounted. In all embodiments the contacts may be secured to the insulating disc by the application of heat, where the disc is made of thermoplastics material
