Abstract

1,197,813. Hydrofinished lubricating oil composition. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd. 17 April, 1969 [31 Jan., 1968], No. 4938/68. Heading C5F. A hydrofinished lubricating oil is blended with 0À0005-0À05% by wt. of a copolymer of ethylene and a vinyl carboxylate having 4 to 14 carbon atoms, the copolymer having an average M.W. of 1000-5000 and containing 1-20 ethylene units per vinyl carboxylate unit, to prevent haze formation. In an example the additive was a copolymer of ethylene and vinylacetate and had a M.W. of 3000 and contained 12 ethylene units per vinyl acetate unit.
