1,197,552. Air cleaner. FILTERWERK MANN & HUMMEL G.m.b.H 13 Feb., 1969 [13 Feb., 1968], No.7788/69. Headings BIT and B2P. An air cleaner for connection to an engine intake comprises: (i) a preliminary separator comprising parallel cyclones 7 extending between parallel partitions 2, 3, separated dust discharging at 6 into a removable container 17, pantially cleaned air discharging into a. zone 5; and (ii) a filter, comprising an annular element 12 held in a cylindrical housing 10 and orientated perpendicular to the cyclones 7, air from zone 5 being delivered tangentially to element 12 and discharging after filtration through an end opening (16) in housing 10.
