Abstract
1,196,446. Railway vehicle undercarriages. STANDARD CAR TRUCK CO. 25 July, 1967.- No. 34056/67. Heading B7L. A railway car truck comprises a pair of side frames each having a pair of spaced vertical columns 3, Figs. 2 and 3, to define therebetween an aperture to receive the end of a bolster 4 supported therein by springs 5, pockets being provided on opposite sides of the bolster to receive friction wedges 9 urged upwardly by separate springs 10, to engage upwardly inclined walls of the pockets and vertical faces of of wear plates 8 disposed in recesses 7 in the columns 3. Lugs 14 project from both sides of the bolster on both sides of the sides frame. The invention is characterized in that the columns 3 are provided on each side of the wear plates 8, with plane stop surfaces 12 which are coplanar with the surfaces of the wear plates, and the bolster is provided with corresponding plane stop surfaces 13 at the sides of pockets. Furthermore spaced pockets 15 are provided in the stop surfaces 12 and communicate with pockets 16 in the recess 7 and weldments are disposed along the edges of the wear plates 8, in the pockets.
