Abstract

1,195,913. Valves. B.P. CHEMICALS (U.K.) Ltd. 14 March, 1968 [13 April, 1967], No. 16939/67. Heading F2V. A multiport valve comprises a rotor 24 with at least one conduit 32 or 33, connected to a shaft 25, and a stator 21 with a plurality of ports 34, 35, made from a filled polytetrafluoroethylene, in contact on at least three sides with valve parts, e.g. a backing piece 22, a retaining ring 23, and the rotor 24, to prevent it deforming. The rotor 24 is loaded on to the stator 21 by a spring 31 acting through a support 30 and a ball 29. A housing 28, which can be of stainless steel, is screw-threaded to the backing piece 22. The conduits 32 or 33 may pass through the rotor. In Fig. 1, not shown, a spring (6) acts directly on a rotor 1.
