Abstract
1,195,146. Rotary fluid operated pump. KOBE Inc. Sept. 12, 1968, No.43527/68. Heading F1A. A rotary fluid operated pump comprises a housing 22 with a rotor chamber 24 having an intake 26 and exhaust 28 for the working fluid and an inlet 30 and outlet 32 for the fluid being pumped; a sectional rotor 42 provided with engine and pump cylinders 50, 52 and pistons 54, 56; piston connecting means 58; cam means 68; and engine and pump valve means 74, 76. The rotor 42 includes engine end, pump end, and central sections 44, 46, 48, disengageably coupled together by dog or jaw clutches (118) (120) Fig. 6 (not shown) and bolts (138) (148) are used for securing the various parts of the engine and pump sections together. The end walls of the central rotor section 48 are provided with coil springs (150) Fig. 6 to provide a sealing engagement between end valve plates (132) (144) and the rotor chamber 24 and which may be supplemented by fluid-pressure acting on the engine and pump sections 44, 46 which is transmitted through valves (152) (154) (164) (166) Fig. 5 (not shown) into axial bores (106) (108) Fig. 6 into chambers (160) and (162) thus applying fluid pressure to the inner ends of the respective engine and pump sections 44, 46. The piston rods 60, 62 are provided with lubricating passages (192) (194) Fig. 13 (not shown). The cam means 68 mounted on each coupling 64 comprises a cam follower 72 which may alternatively comprise a roller and which moves in a cam groove 70 in a fixed spindle 40 for rotating the rotor 42. The pump may be used in a well, particularly an oil well, as a bottom hole pump, as a surface pump or a fluid pressure transformer.
