In an accounting machine comprising an electric typewriter including a carriage 7, Fig. 3, carrying a platen 6, and an electronic calculating machine having a continuously rotating type cylinder 13 coacting with a travelling print hammer 14, Fig. 4, a paper strip 16 is fed to the cylinder 13 from a roll 17 supported in a semi-cylindrical plate 18 located below and rearwardly of the cylinder 13, the plate 18 being provided with a plurality of parallel apertures 21 through which rollers 24 mounted on pins 23 project to engage the periphery of the roll 17. The plate 18 is supported on side plates 20, an arm 25 of which carries a tensioning bar 29 urged clockwise by a spring 28 and around which the strip 16 is passed. The strip 16 is pressed against feed wheels 30 coaxial with the cylinder 13 but rotatable independently thereof, by rollers 36 mounted on a pivotable paperguiding cradle 32. The cradle 32 pivots about pins 34 for paper loading under the action of a key 31 a pin 49 of which pivots a lever 44 which engages the cradle 32 at 43 and which is latched by engagement of a lug 53 with a latch 54. The latch is released by depression of a key 52 further depression of which initiates continuous rotation of the feed wheels 30 for long feed. The paper strip may pass out of the machine between a transparent window 79 formed with a serrated cutting edge 81 and a pair of plates 83, 87, or may alternatively pass between the plates 83, 87, and between further pairs of plates 93, 97 and 98, 99, and out of the rear of the machine at 103. The plate 87, and a cover 68 carrying the plates 93, 97, are pivoted at 85 and 66 respectively to aid loading of paper.
