Abstract

A vehicle bogie comprises a wheeled bogie frame 11 having a transverse member 23 rotatably supported by elastomeric bushings 26 in tubes 20, 21 secured to side members 12, 13 of the frame, and has a bolster 32 pivotally connected to the transverse member and supported on the side members 12, 13 by elastomeric members 36 and in turn resiliently supporting the underside of a vehicle body 33. The bolster may support the body 33 via air springs 35 and have buffers 37 which engage flanges 38 on the body 33 to prevent relative lateral movement between the two, and the pivotal connection may comprise a pivot pin 31 received in an elastomeric bush 30 carried by transverse member 23. The pivot 31 and the elastomeric members 36 permit relative twist between the vehicle body and the bogie frame and the bushings 26 allow the side members 12, 13 to pivot about the transverse member 23 to compensate for track uneveness. The elastomeric members may be formed of natural or synthetic rubber incorporating graphite.
