Abstract
1527270 Vehicle bogies DRESSER INDUSTRIES Inc 23 Aug 1976 [28 Aug 1975] 34954/76 Heading B7L In a bogie, sub-frames 11, 12 each provide two axle boxes 18 for axles 10, 11 and at least one sub-frame also supports resilient pads 30, 30<1> on which side frames 29 of a vehicle body supporting main frame are mounted, and the subframes are coupled by a member 14 including a resilient pad 15, the arrangement being such that the bogie has good lateral stability at high speeds, but the jaw stiffness of pads 30, 30<1> and 15 is chosen to permit controlled yawing of the wheelsets on curved rail. Resilient pads 38 or springs are placed between the side frames 29 and an interconnecting bolster 39 and further resilient pads are provided on the bolster for mounting the vehicle body thereon. Fig. 16 shows a steering link 48c pivoted between a modified sub-frame 12c at 51c and the vehicle body at 52c, a portion of the link being rotatable in a bearing 78 carried by a flexible member 44c interconnecting side frames 77. Braking members 23 are carried by the axle sub-frames and are designed to apply different braking forces to the leading and trailing wheelsets.
