Abstract

1,192,529. Grinding. WST-PATENTER A.B. 11 Dec., 1968 [18 Dec., 1967], No. 58949/68. Heading B3D. A profile trimming apparatus comprises a grinding die 2 reciprocatable relative to a workpiece 9, a grinding band 1 which covers the work surface of the die, a first roll 3 for supplying the grinding band to the work surface of the die, a second roll 10 on which worm grinding band from the working surface is wound, and means for rotating the second roll in stepwise fashion whereby portions of the band are fed to the work surface of the die one step at a time for every complete to-and-fro movement of the die. The die and rolls are mounted on a table 6 reciprocatable on guide bars 14. The band is guided over the surface of the die 2 by guide rolls 4 associated with pressure rolls 5. One of the guide rolls 4 is connected by a chain 11 and slipping clutch to the second roll 10 and is rotated stepwise at the completion of each to-and-fro movement by a ratchet wheel operable by engagement of a lever 7 with an abutment 8. The die 2 may comprise a number of bars placed side-by-side separated by resilient distance pieces. The workpiece is fed against the die and may be the edge or profile of a door or frame moulding.
