Abstract
1,192,444. Fixing electro-photographic images. RANK XEROX Ltd. June 19, 1967 [June 23, 1966], No.28163/67. Heading G2H. An electro-photographic heat-fusible powder image is fixed by bringing a support bearing the image into contact with a hot liquid metal, such as lead, bismuth or mercury or an alloy of bismuth, lead and antimony, maintained at a temperature at which the image is fusible and below the temperature at which the support is damaged. The non-image side of the support may be contacted with the liquid metal or the whole imaged support may be immersed in the metal. In Fig. 4 the imaged support 25 is carried into the fixing apparatus by rollers 51 and 52 and is guided under the surface of liquid metal bath 46 by the guides 71 and 76 and adjustable roller 70, leaving the apparatus between rollers 57 and 58. Alternatively in Fig. 5 (not shown) the support 25 is guided along the surface of the metal bath by the fixed guide 89.
