In a circuit for supplying control pulses or control power to a number of series-connected thyristors 13 . . . 22 the pulses or power are fed to a cable 1 having an insulating covering on which magnetic cores 3 ... 12 are carried, each core having one or more windings arranged to transmit pulses or power to the control circuit of the thyristors, the arrangement being such that the voltage gradient along the cable is determined by the thyristors and their voltage dividers and the voltage of the cores relative to the conductor gradually diminishes towards both ends of the cable. A metal or semiconductor sleeve may be arranged between the cable covering and each core (or between cores) so as to reduce sparking therebetween. The cable may have several conductors insulated from one another and mutually connected in series.
