Abstract

A fluid monostable switching device with an inlet passage 2, outlet passages 6, 7 and control passage 13 meeting in a chamber 5 is characterized in that one planar surface of the chamber has an interruption which may be in the form of a depression 16, which depression may comprise a step (21) deepening in the downstream direction (Fig. 5, not shown), or a projection (20) (Figs. 3, 6, not shown), the purpose of which is to substantially reduce the hysteresis effect so that the pressure at which a reducing control pressure signal allows switching back of an input power stream to its preferred outlet passage 6 is substantially the same as that required to cause switching to the outlet 7 in the first place. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), an additional control passage (18) is provided downstream of the passage 13. The fluid passages are recessed in a suitable material and covered with a face plate 15, there being appropriate channels through the material for connecting the input and control passages to fluid sources.
