A container assembly made from a thermoplastic film includes a generally cylindrical container with an outwardly projecting peripheral flange 4 at its open upper end, the upper surface of this flange being formed into a peripheral groove 6. The wall of the container has corrugations extending from the top to the bottom of the container. The plug closure has corresponding corrugations so that the plug and container interlock in the closed position and the groove 6 in the container flange 4 engages a corresponding bead 9 on the plug flange 8. The closure may be completed by heat-sealing around the flange which may be extended to appear generally square in plan view. The plug and container may be constituted by different parts of the same piece of film joined along one side of the square flange by a weakened portion forming an integral hinge.
