Abstract

1,190,930. Rose plates. EDWIN SHOWELL & SONS Ltd. 14 Sept., 1967 [23 Sept., 1966], No. 42520/66. Heading A4U. [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] Flanged metal or plastic rose plates 10 are mounted on opposite sides of a door by nut and bolt assemblies each consisting of a bolt 24 and nut 25 which pass through aligned holes 22 in the plates, the shank 35 of the nut being drilled and tapped to engage the shank 24 of the bolt and having an enlargement 38 with radially projecting keys 39 the nut 25 or at least the keys 39 being of a hardness to cut key ways in the bore 42 of the hole and prevent rotation of the nut. The heads of the nuts are preferably frusto-conical and engage flaring mouths 41 of the holes. In modifications the heads are hexagonal, the keys are provided on the bolt or only the head which is rotated has a tool-engaging slot and, as an anti-theft device, is arranged on the inner surface of the door. The plates have journals 14 for a handle 15, acted on by a spring operating between a rectangular hollow spigot 15 and a stop member 18 on the spigot and key holes may be provided in the rose plates.
