Abstract

1,190,764. Valves. SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 21 June, 1967 [4 Aug., 1966], No. 35080/66. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F1] A valve for an I.C. engine crankcar ventilating system comprises a valve body 10 connected at the left-hand end to the crankcar space and at the right-hand end to the engine induction pipe, a ball valve 15, which is drawn away from seat 14 by engine suction, being so dimensioned in relation to passage 19 that the floor passage is reduced with increasing suction but is not completely closed at maximum suction. The body 10 may be made of a plastic material to allow it to be forced in a hole in the crankcase wall or rocker box cover and the outlet end 11 is connected by a flexible pipe to the induction pipe. The passage 19 may be formed as a single cone or, as shown, of two different conical portions 18, 19. The seat member 12 may be formed as a plug forced into the body.
