Abstract

1,190,153. Moulding concrete with a displaceable mould. S. M. NILSSON. 21 May, 1968, No. 24248/68. Heading B5A. Elongated concrete objects 7, which may be of less than 3 cm. width, are cast on a bed 6 by the displacement thereover of a wheeled moulding assembly comprising a feed hopper 1, provided at the trailing edge thereof with a trowelling surface 12, and a vibrated tamper 9 provided with a resilient steel plate 13. The leading edge 21 of the hopper 1 is vertically adjustable and is located below the level of the surface 12. Side edges of the object are formed by side walls (8), Fig. 2 (not shown), of the moulding assembly. The concrete mix in the hopper 1 is of water-cement weight ratio of less than 0À32, whereby the concrete does not adhere to the surface of the tamper 9 and additional water is sprayed from jets 14 on to the inclined surface 20 of concrete issuing under the leading edge 21 of the hopper and is distributed throughout the deposited concrete towards the upper surface thereof by the tamping action. The object may incorporate reinforcements 18 and the moulding assembly is towed over the casting bed 6 by a rope or wire 17. For the casting of wider objects, the side walls (8<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 3 (not shown), are also vibrated and are resiliently supported by the moulding assembly (4) which also carries a motor (23) which rotates the moulding assembly wheels (5); moulding cores (25) are also carried on the moulding assembly (4).
