A magnesium base alloy consists, by weight, of The alloy may be heat-treated in a number of ways:- (a) rolled product may be heated at 371‹ - 510‹C ., quenched, cold-rolled, and further annealed at 149‹ - 371‹ C.; (b) rolled product may be heated at 371‹-510‹C., warm-rolled, quenched, and then if desired, aged at 149‹-426‹C.; (c) rolled product may be solution treated at 454‹ - 510‹C., quenched, and aged at 149‹-176‹ C.; (d) extruded product may be aged at 176‹ C.
