Joints with yielding outer pipe compressed.- In connecting a hose or like pipe to a nipple a yielding collar formed of strands of flexible and compressible material 10 is fitted on the end of the pipe 9 over the nipple 5 and is compressed by an internally-screwed ferrule 12 which makes threads on the yielding collar. The collar may be formed of string or the like, or may be a band of rubber, leather, felt, lead, &c. which is sufficiently pliant to form threads.
