Abstract

1,189,858. Air cushion vehicles. BRITISH HOVERCRAFT CORP. Ltd. 22 March, 1968 [21 June, 1967], No. 28566/67. Heading B7K. A flexible skirt for an air cushion vehicle comprises an upper inflatable member 1 formed of a substantially planar portion attached to the vehicle body at edges 7 and 8 extended downwardly by a looped portion having individual contiguous skirt elements 2 attached thereto. The member 1 is divided into compartments by partitions 3 each secured by pressure tight joints 4 to the inner wall of member 1 and each composed of a plurality of gores 9 and a flat panel 10 so that, as shown in Fig. 4, the diaphragm is dome-shaped whereby any transverse distortion of the member 1 is readily accommodated.
