Abstract
1,189,821. Extracting from solids. ALLIED BREWERIES Ltd. 17 May, 1967 [18 Feb., 1966], No. 7305/66. Heading B1Q. [Also in Division C6] Solids are extracted by a solvent from a mash such as malt grains which give the wort therefrom in an apparatus which consists of a substantially horizontal vessel 1. The rotary movement of this vessel establishes three zones shown in Fig. 2, viz. liquid zone 5, fluidised zone 6 and solid zone 7. Slurry is introduced at inlet 3 and is extracted from zone 6 by outlet 4. The zones may be established in a stationary vessel with rotating- paddles (Fig. 3, not shown) or may work in countercurrent (Fig. 6, not shown) or the extraction may be completed in a series of treatment vessels (Fig. 5, not shown).
