Ignition apparatus for internal-combustion engines includes a generator having a primary winding 12, a transformer T having a primary winding P 1 a first secondary winding S 1 and a second secondary winding S2, a first transistor TR 1 , the primary winding 12 of the generator, the primary winding P 1 of the transformer and the first transistor TR 1 being connected in series circuit, a second transistor TR 2 , the first secondary winding S 1 of the transformer providing base current for the first transistor and a Zener diode Z 1 connected to the second secondary winding S 2 and the second transistor TR 2 , the second transistor being operative to control, when the breakdown voltage of the Zener diode is exceeded, the conductive state of the first transistor.
