Abstract

1,188,316. Stowage structures in container ships; air cushion vehicles. MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG. CO. Ltd. 22 Aug., 1967 [5 Sept., 1966], No. 38577/67. Headings B7A, B7K and B7S. A container stowing structure in a container ship or air cushion vehicle 20 comprises beams 25 extending over a hold and releasably secured to longitudinal bulkhead 21, and container guides 35 secured in vertical relation to the beams. In the embodiment described guide blocks 26 secured to the longitudinal bulkhead 21 receive one end of transverse beams 25, supporting blocks 28 secured to centreline girder 24 receive the other ends of the beams 25 and guide blocks 30 are fixed on opposite sides of blocks 28. The vertical container guides 35 are secured to the underside of the guides 26 and 30. To load freight of any size each transverse beam 25 and associated container guides can be moved aside to the positions 25a shown in Fig. 1.
