Abstract

1,187,341. Producing printing plates. KALLE A.G. April 10, 1968 [April 13, 1967], No.17227/68. Heading G2H. Printing plates are produced by charging and imagewise exposing a supported photo-conductive layer comprising a polymerizable organic photoconductor as described in Specification 1,182,174, developing the charge image with a finely divided solid substance which acts as a catalyst for the ionic polymerization of the photo-conductor on heat, heating to 100-200‹ C. and removing the non- image areas with a solvent. Specified catalyst developers are metal oxides, finely divided metals, boric oxide, silicon oxide, metal sulphides, halides, nitrates, carbonates and silicates, metal salts of organic acids e.g. acetates, tartrates, oxalates, malonates and formates, metal chelates e. g. oxinates, acetyl acetonates, bis salicyl aldoximes and glycinates and malachite green. The developer may be a powder or liquid dispersion. The liquid dispersion may contain as additives naphthenates, linseed oil and pentaerythritol resin ester.
