Abstract
1330450 Electro-photographic processes ITEK CORP 19 Aug 1970 [3 Sept 1969] 17282/73 Divided out of 1328374 Heading G2H In an electro-photographic process comprising exposing a copy medium to an image, electrostatically charging the medium and developing a visible image on the medium, the medium comprises a support with an organic photo-sensitive material which undergoes an irreversible chemical change under actinic radiation to permanently alter its conductivity, the material comprising (a) an aryl substituted pyrylium salt of formula (b) a triphenyl-methane dye of formula or (c) a phenyl substituted inderone oxide of formula In the formulae, a is from 0 to the number of replacable hydrogen atoms on the aryl nucleus; Y is a substituent radical preferably alkyl, alkoxy, amino, nitro or halo; A in an anionic function; M is or Z is an ethylenically unsaturated aliphatic chain of 2 to 4 carbon atoms and X is the anion of an acid such as HCN, HC1, HBr, HI, or HSCN. In an example baryta paper is coated with 2, 4, 6-triphenylpyrylium 3-oxide and a resin. Many resins, supports and examples of compounds of formulae I to III are given. Multiple copies may be taken from the exposed medium by repeating the charging and developing steps.
