Abstract

1,186,463. Moulding plastic substances. RIEKER & CO. 12 Aug., 1968 [25 April, 1968], No. 38398/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A3] A method of moulding a body with a mouldedin insert accessible from the body exterior, comprises resiliently mounting a support element with the insert thereon in a mould cavity such that the insert is spring urged against a wall of the cavity, one end of the spring abutting a member within the cavity, and introducing moulding composition into the cavity. A shoe sole is moulded on to an inner sole 1 provided with a heel wedge 4 and an electric heater, not shown. Current is supplied to the heater via a plug 2 moulded in the shoe sole, and the plug is axially slidable in a housing 3 secured to the heel wedge and is urged outwardly by a spring 8. In order to provide a recess in the moulded sole for the reception of a plug connector, an insert 9 is placed on the plug pins, and the assembly located in a mould 10, 11, the insert being urged against a mould wall by the spring. Moulding material may be introduced by injection, and after its solidification the insert is removed to leave a recess into which the plug pins project.
