Abstract

961,979. Moulding electric plugs. BARRINGTON PRODUCTS (LEICESTER) Ltd. Jan. 8, 1962 [Jan. 16, 1961; Aug. 2, 1961], Nos. 1805/61 and 27980/61. Heading B5A. [Also in Division H2] A bayonet-type plug (see Division H2) is moulded on to a head, e.g. for an electric shaver using a split mould having halves 25, 26 and an associated core 27. Plug terminals 10 are first crimped around lead conductors 1 and supported in the mould as shown. A pin 32 is then inserted through registering holes formed in the core 27 and halves 25, 26 so as to lie midway across the mould and hold the parts thereof together. The cavity 24 is then injected, for example with polyvinyl chloride, and after the material has set the pin 32 is removed and the mould parts separated. A diametrical bayonet pin for the plug is now inserted through holes in the plug casing formed by pin 32 and finally a separate injection moulded closure cover, for example of nylon, is fitted over terminals 10 into a groove in the casing formed by a rib 30 on the core 27.
