[Also in Division E1] An article whose surface is at least partially covered with one or more sheets 16a of plastics material affixed to the surface is provided with at least one groove or recess 22 in which edges of the sheets 16a terminate and are hidden from view by inserts 26 which fit within the recesses 22 so as to give the article a flush surface. In one embodiment, Fig. 2, a door 20 comprises a wooden frame 12a faced with sheets 14a of hardboard which project to define a recess 22. The sheets 16a are made of plasticized polyvinyl chloride and are stuck to the sheets 14a. The insert 26 may be covered with a sheet 28 of similar polyvinyl chloride, the edges 30 of which are positioned within the recess 22, and may be stuck or nailed in the recess 22. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, a lid 40, e.g. a lid of a glove-box for a motor vehicle, comprises a plywood sheet 41 covered by two polyvinyl chloride sheets 42 and having a dovetail shaped recess 44 into which a dove-tail shaped insert 46 is snapped. The insert 46 may be made of wood or may be an extrusion of plastics material.
