Sliding-valves.-A double gate valve with cleaning-box for pipes conveying paper pulp, sewage, slurry, and other thick semi-liquid substances comprises a box or casing A the lower part A<1> of which forms a catch-pit below the pipe level. The top and sides, and the bottom also if desired, of the casing are provided with cleaning openings normally closed by doors O which are loosely and pivotally mounted on bars R pivoted to brackets S on the casing. The ends of the bars are engaged by pivoted links T, after which the doors are forced down by screws U. Sheetmetal valves E sliding in guides F, with stops E<1>, are adapted to close seat-openings D on opposite sides of the box. The valves are actuated by levers H, or by quick-action screws.
