Abstract

22,817. Cochran, R. C. Oct. 3. Check valves; casings.-A valve casing for storm valves, check valves, &c., particularly adapted for manufacture in pressed steel or iron, comprises a lower trough-like part A open at one end and closed, elbow-fashion, at the other end and formed with flanges B, C at the top and the open end, and a cover part F having an upstanding flange G at the part near the open end of the trough and an aperture H near the other end for a pipe connexion. The two parts are bolted together, and the whole is adapted to be secured say to the side of a ship. The valve E is suspended within the casing by eye-bolts L, or in depressions in the flange of the lower part A; in the latter case, a small separate transverse cover is provided to secure the valve in place, and permit ready repairs to the valve.
